You feel frustrated yet again with your family member and it feels like you keep having the same conversation over and over and nothing changes. Maybe one person in the family is going through some difficult life transitions and it has really affected the rest of the family’s well-being. Or perhaps you’ve had a difficult relationship with a parent, sibling, or child for a while and you are realizing how much it affects you, and how much better life would be if you could get along.  

You’ve likely been feeling this way for a while, but recently you’ve realized that what you are doing hasn’t been working. It is so painful to feel disconnected from a family member. It is exhausting trying to communicate and figure it out all on your own, especially because it feels like the rest of your family doesn’t really listen.

My Approach

Hi, I’m Becky, and I help families communicate better and create stronger, healthier, more connected relationships. I work with all configurations of families – parents and child, adult siblings, parents and adult children, and more. If you consider someone part of your family, that is who I want to work with.  I am empathic and curious, and I listen thoughtfully to really understand what each person in the family is feeling and where those feelings are coming from. I offer compassion, reflection, and feedback to help you figure out where you are getting stuck and what you each can do differently to create a better relationship.

I am trained in family systems which is a theory that helps to look at the whole family dynamic, and see that everyone has a part in working towards resolution. I also look at how larger systems like the community might also be affecting the family. I am an engaged and involved therapist who cares deeply about my clients and I am passionate about helping you learn how to communicate to be able to feel more connected and resolve issues on your own to create a happier and healthier family which supports all members. I am especially passionate about supporting families around the issue of eating disorders, food/body concerns, and weight. I want to help you and your family find freedom from the tension that often comes with these issues and find ways to be able to communicate more effectively and have all members feel supported.

Call me at (424) 231-5877 or email me to set up an initial phone consultation. During this call I will learn more about you and what you are looking for, and I will answer any questions you have about me.

 
 
 

step two

If we are a good fit, we will schedule an initial session. In this session we will continue to get to know each other and identify your challenges and what you hope to get out of therapy.

 
 
 

step three

We dive in. We’ll meet weekly until you feel better and until you reach your goals.
